FAQs

(PMU services = permanent makeup services)

Does it hurt?

The first pass (out of two) for all PMU services, is done without any numbing. This technique prioritizes a crisp and defined outline by not compromising the skin texture.

Although pain is subjective, the level of discomfort is relatively minor. Majority of clients rate pain as a 4 or below from a scale of 1-10. Some describe it as a kitten scratch, or the feeling of getting threading done.

An effective numbing cream is used to numb the area for the rest of the procedure.

What is a touchup?

Often referred to as a perfection visit, a touchup is done 5-6 after your initial visit to adjust color, shape, or density of brows that might've changed during the healing process. These changes may occur due to skin type, metabolism, sun exposure, age, lifestyle, or poorly-followed aftercare instructions.

This touchup is free!

Is the touchup session necessary?

Yes! A touchup session after 5-6 weeks is necessary as everyone heals differently and outcomes will vary. During the healing process, color, shape or density can change. This visit ensures you get your desired brows!

Can I get my touchup session sooner than 4 weeks?

Touchup sessions should not be done earlier than 4 weeks after initial PMU session as pigment color has not fully settled into the skin and skin is still healing although it may look fully healed.

What should I expect after the procedure?

The eyebrow area will be slightly red after the procedure and color will be darker than the desired color for 7-10 days. This is normal and part of the healing process. The color will fade by up to 30% as it heals. In the following days, the eyebrows will continue to be dark and you will notice slight scabbing. Scabs should be left to fall off on their own, not picked. It is strongly recommended to schedule your appointment around any upcoming events you wouldn't want your brows to appear darker in or scab in.

Please read aftercare instructions for more details.

Am I a candidate for the Microblading in Hybrid Brows?
Microblading requires you have a specific skin type in order to achieve optimal results. The Ombre Powder Brow technique is universally fitting for all skin types, and is the least invasive. Consider this technique is you have any of the following.
You are not eligible for microblading if you have:
  • oily or combination skin
  • thin skin or thick skin
  • mature skin
  • large pores
  • sensitive skin
  • skin that has had a lot of exposure to sun/sun-damaged skin
  • flaky skin or excessive dead skin buildup
  • prone to scarring/keloids
  • skin conditions near the treated area
Please read "Who cannot get these services?" below for more on eligibility.

How do I prepare for my service? (Precare instructions)
For the service, wear comfy clothing and be prepared to lay for 2 hours. Wearing makeup is recommended for me to know your preferred brow look, and for before and after photos.

48 HOURS before your service. please avoid caffeine or alcohol. Read below for more info.

1 WEEK before your service, do not take any blood thinning medications such as NSAIDS (Advil, Ibuprofen, aspirin), anticoagulants (If this is required by a physician, do not discontinue taking your medication. Speak with your artist about an alternative), supplements like fish oil or vitamin E, or use AHA or BHA products such as glycolic acid or salicylic acid. DO NOT tweeze, wax or tan.

1 MONTH before your service, no chemical peels, injectables (fillers, Botox near eyebrows), retinoid/vitamin A products, or eyebrow tinting. If you have used Accutane, you must be off the product for at least ONE YEAR.

IMPORTANT: caffeine, alcohol and blood thinning medications can cause excessive bleeding, bruising, and swelling. Excessive bleeding prevents pigment from being implanted effectively. THE RESULTS MAY BE VERY POOR. Your appointment could be rescheduled if these are not avoided This is to ensure you have the best results possible!

How long does it last?

There are many factors that go into the longevity of your permanent makeup. The pigments used are made to fade over time and are implanted into the uppermost layers of skin unlike traditional tattoos. Permanent makeup generally lasts 2-3 years. There can be some color left behind after 2-3 years as it may not disappear completely. Factors like skin type (normal, dry, oily), health conditions, age, metabolism, lifestyle (tobacco smokers, etc.), or sun exposure can affect the longevity of your PMU. The use of retinoids, AHA or BHA products such as Salicylic Acid or Glycolic Acid may also affect pigment retention as your skin will resurface faster.

Each individual's pigment retention will vary.

Can I match my brows with the color of my hair?

Pigments are applied to the skin to mix with your natural color and create a brown. Services are done to match the color of eyebrow hair you have when you come in. We do not match to unnatural colors. If you want to go SLIGHTLY lighter or darker, you may carefully dye or lighten your brows one week before your service and we will match it to that tone. (NOTE: color fades up to 40% during the healing process. If the color you want is too light, it may fade completely.)

What are the aftercare instructions?

For the first 24 hours, blot the area every 2 hours. Do not get area wet or workout for 24 HOURS. After 24 hours, gently wash brows with a gentle antibacterial soap like Dial, Dove or baby soap. Continue to wash the area and apply a paper thin layer of grape seed oil on the area 3x a day for 7-10 days. You will be provided grape seed oil with your aftercare bag.

NO makeup, sun exposure, saunas, hot tubs, swimming, or heat near brows for 10 DAYS.

There will be a scab/crust that forms in the days following the procedure. It is very important you DO NOT PICK, SCRATCH OR PEEL THE SCAB. This can result in loss of pigment, leading to an inconsistent areas of color. It will fall off naturally within 7-10 days. If you have an event coming up in which you do not want your brows to look dark or scab in, it is recommended to schedule around it.

Your brows will look darker for the first 10 days.

All PMU procedures are TWO-STEP processes. Final results are not determined until touchup/perfection visit is complete. Failure to follow aftercare instructions may result in infections, pigment loss or discoloration. Please adhere to them for the best results possible.
